Wow. While I applaud the Supreme Court in collectively throwing out a bunch of outdated and unnecessary "blue laws" that (hopefully) will make life a helluva lot easier for my GLBT friends, at the same time this decision chafes against my Libertarian philosophy of Let The States Freakin' Decide For Themselves.

In other words, the Federal government has once again barged in and told the states what kind of laws they may or may not pass. *sigh*

Actually the option was NOT based on the due process cause but rather on the rights to privacy. That probably makes the decision most protective to other "alternative lifestyle" minorities as long as the behavior is in private and not for commercial gain (also specifically cited in the majority opinion). But whatever the bsis of the decision, it was agood day for libery in these united states.

An excellent analysis of the decision is by Yale law professor Jack Balkin, http://balkin.blogspot.com/ (I must be taking this law hobby too seriously)

The picures should be in your e-mail inbox. Enjoy:-))
