I am having a severe case of wedding envy after reading [livejournal.com profile] rivka's wonderful post. =)

Sometimes I wish I could just let go of the idea of getting married altogether, as it would make my life that much simpler. I certainly don't feel like my life will only be complete if I have a spouse; far from it, actually. I've got several people who love me and whom I love, and on the whole they bring a lot of happiness to my life. Sometimes though, when I'm immersed in things like "A Wedding Story" or the pages and pages of wedding-related ads and articles and such around this time of year (the Washingtonian this month is roughly half "Cheap Eats" and half really freakin' expensive wedding-related stuff), I revert to being the little girl who would daydream about the beautiful dress, the long veil, and her Prince Charming waiting at the end of the aisle.

Thanks for the link. That was truely beautiful.

Have to admit am fascinated by wedding stuff, even before I had one to look forward too. Hate to think its hardwired in.

Besides... it's nice to be guaranteed to be the focal point at a big party including one's closest friends. And the wedding gifts are traditionally things to enable a new couple to entertain, thereby remaining socially connected. One can certainly live perfectly well without either, granted...

Too bad that one can't get married more than once, without an intervening loss...
