Today is Setting Orange, day 71 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3268.

Random notes:
* The idea of the snows of Kilimanjaro disappearing in the next couple of decades is depressing.
* You just can't beat baking Halloween cookies in the office to go with your afternoon coffee on a cool, rainy day.
* You said we should come up with nefarious plans, perhaps you really wanted to be more specific about that? ;)
* I really, really, REALLY need to figure out what I'm doing for APC as tomorrow's the room reservation deadline.
* Road trip to Philadelphia to see Sing Sing coming up on the 30th.
* Pining sucks. Where's my transporter?
* What I really want to be doing right now is reliving one of those sprawled-on-the-grass-in-the-sun conversations from ten years ago. I miss those, and you, more than I can say.
* Today is kind of an "off" day...I was okay until it got dark, and now I'm mopey. Hate this. I've got several more months of it to look forward to, oh joy.
* Need to figure out how to cobble together a light box, since I don't have the extra $200 to buy one right now.
* Hula lessons: good idea/bad idea? (Assuming I can find any, that is.)
* Need to remember birthday party tomorrow night and dig out the directions from the black hole that is my inbox.

Are you referring to a light box for directing light on a subject, like a "softbox", or a slide/transparency viewer type of box? If the former, check out this. If you want the latter type, get yourself a fluorescent fixture that will take 5000K flour.tubes (20 watts, I think). If the tubes are 20W, any fluorescent fixture should work. Find a local plastics supplier, or check the home improvement/building materials shops, and get a piece of white 1/4" plexiglass. Build a simple box to hold it all and either paint the inside white or line it with aluminum foil.

And BTW, if you're looking for one to use for SAD, the slide-viewer type I describe above has been used for that in some posts I've seen around Google. You just may want to "dress it up" a bit for whatever appropriate decor...

I've also heard reports that some folks find using plant growing lights at close proximity to be helpful, though I don't have any scientific sources backing this up.

That's pretty much what I was looking for, SAD counteracting lights. Thanks for the pointers, I may have a weekend project coming up now. =)
