Today is Pungenday, day 72 in the season of Confusion, 3268.

Today's whinging: I have a laptop which suddenly forgot that it has a modem, refuses to admit that the network cable really is plugged in (unless I unplug the cable from the machine, at which point it finally thinks it's connected even though the cable is dangling from the wall) and which I am about to wipe down and reinstall the OS to see if that helps although I think it's flaky cards more than anything else; I've been tugging at my shirt all day because it keeps threatening to come unbuttoned and it's annoying me to no end; my blood sugar levels just dropped mid-con call making me both shaky and cranky; the stick is back in a big, BIG way and I keep thwacking myself in the head with it repeatedly for some reason; need to readjust my thinking about a couple of things at least temporarily after having gotten myself firmly into a particular mindset.

But the happy stuff, because I'm determined to find some: I have the latter half of next week off; a check got posted a day before I expected it to, so I now can be absolutely confident of having money in my account until Friday (if I count on rent checks clearing in 2 days, it takes 7 and vice versa); this search engine appears to be able to do pretty much what I want, so I may be done with this project soonish; I think that my disappointment will be only temporary, and I'm willing to be patient; it's an absolutely beautiful day here today, in the 70s and sunny (too bad I had to spend it in an office, but I can go home in an hour and a half). Oh yeah, and I finally had a tomato sandwich with fresh tomatoes from the farm stand down the road from the office. Mmmm. At last, it's officially summer now.

And this weather is making my allergies crazy. It's far better than oppressive heat and humidity though. I walked out of my building this am, and it smelled lovely, and was sunny and happy weather. I could get used to this.

Are other folks having allergies? I've been trying to figure out whether the scratch in my throat is illness or the dust in my new office building.

I'm not having any currently, but I probably will now that I've said that.

Mine have been unusually bad this year...to the point where I'm going to try and get my NP to switch my allergy meds to the next generation of stuff (Clarinex, Zyrtec and all that) from Claritin that I've been taking for years. I've had really bad nasal symptoms this year, which I don't usually have...usually it's just the cough/wheeze etc.
