Credit-card hackers stung with bogus IIS 'sploit
What happens when you float a counterfeit IIS hole in a carder chatroom on IRC, tantalizing its young denizens with a quick, easy score? Do they proxy up, patiently enumerate the site, grab banners, analyze what they're up against and carefully plot an attack? Or do they rush into the trap like so many elite lemmings?

Date: 2002-06-26 05:25 pm (UTC)This was one of the things that made me stop going to 2600 meetings*: there are so many "leet" types who are so dumb it isn't even funny. But they do have endless reserves of patience and lots of time on their side.
*The other being a "request" from my then employer to stop going.
