Aww. =( RIP, Snooch. http://www.twolumps.net/d/20090814.html

The library's rearranged a bunch of stuff and now picking up your holds (soon to be reading: this) is self-service. I like this, but sadly I suspect it's not unrelated to the fact that the library system recently had to cut back its opening hours by 10 or 11 hours a week and lay off something like 300 people due to budget shortfalls. The self-service checkout kiosks have increased from one to three or four out of the five stations.

I think I might've stopped the early blight affecting my tomato plant, and this year we've managed to harvest a bunch of cherry tomatoes before the birds and squirrels and other critters made off with them. It's still flowering, and there are a bunch of ripening tomatoes soon to be ready for nomming. Also, the jalapeños are doing well, as are both the sweet and Thai basil. It's been a bit of a race to keep the Thai basil from bolting though, and I think I'm about to start losing.

I have a billion and one things to do around the house, and I cannot muster the energy to do any of them. I'd been planning to spend tomorrow doing a massive kitchen cleaning, complete with storing or posting on CL a bunch of appliances I don't use often enough to justify keeping them out, a huge purge and bleach/rinse of the fridge, and cleaning out of cabinets. Somewhere in there, in the late afternoon, I also have to go to a milestone birthday party out in Gainesville for a while.

Lately I have been all about accessories. C'mon, it's not like I already own too many shoes and purses or anything. *ahem* If anyone suffering greatly from Way, Way Too Much Money Syndrome is looking for assistance with a cure for that, there's a gorgeous handbag on the cover of September's Real Simple that would look fabulous on my arm. ;) (Me: *flipping to the vendor info page* "Talbot's? Noooo, that's way too superfantastic to have come from Talbot's. Oh, the shoes are from Talbot's. The bag is Prada and $2000. Um, thanks, but not spending five weeks' worth of rent on a purse.")
