So, what do y'all think of FriendFeed? I know a couple of you are there already, how are you liking it?

I've been thinking lately that I just don't have time to keep up with everyone that I want to in all the various places they post stuff, and this seems like it could be really convenient. Nearly one-stop shopping, as it were. (If that's ultimately a good or bad thing, I don't know.) I set up an account to poke around, and so far I think I mostly like it. (My feed's set to private for now, but if you've got an account already, you can find me there under my first name.) I'd like there to be a way that I can collapse stuff like my Amazon wish list and Netflix entries, because the included images take up a lot of space on the page. There's a way to hide those entries, but I'd rather be able to keep the titles and make display of images optional. I should poke around more and see if I can do that.

squee!

[livejournal.com profile] ratmmjess, pardon the squealing, but: DO WANT!!
Jess Nevins (author of The Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana and well known for his exhaustive League of Extraordinary Gentlemen annotations) is signing on board to turn his massive librarian brain to the perspective of global pulp. While the pulps in our experience have had a strongly American bent, there was a lot going on in the rest of the world's pulp publication scene, and Strange Tales of the Century will be exploring the entirety of it, unveiling the many strange and exciting character archetypes seen across the planet during pulp's heyday. This will be part game aid, part reference book, acting as an index into at least two decades' worth of the pulps through the lens of the heroes and villains writ large on the page.
