Today is Sweetmorn, day 52 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3271.

I was amused to find that my $20 bottle of wine tonight came with a screw-top. It was not, however, in a bottle as big as my head.*   (Yes, I know perfectly good wines come with screw-tops these days, I just hadn't encountered one yet and didn't even notice until I got the bottle home and pulled out the corkscrew.)

I spent the evening with a pot of homemade butternut squash soup, the aforementioned bottle of dry riesling, and "Harold and Maude". What a wonderful little movie that is.

* Former coworker's Law of Wine Consumption: "Never drink wine from a bottle bigger than your head." It's a rule that's served me well.

Have any of y'all used the OTRS trouble ticket system? If so, what do you think of it?

Delay indicted in campaign finance probe

CNN's breaking news banner: "House Majority Leader Tom DeLay says he will temporarily step down from his post following today's indictment."

Today I:

  • am worried about both [livejournal.com profile] brian1789 (who I seem to be unable to reach at the moment) and [livejournal.com profile] patgreene
  • am ever-so-slightly hung over.
  • have decided I want to be Maude when I'm 80. Heck, I want to be Maude at 34.
  • am wearing a scarf [livejournal.com profile] brian1789 brought me from his last European trip.
  • was disturbed to realize while doing homework that I've forgotten even very basic geometry.
  • am not liking the new Ryan Adams and The Cardinals CD "Jacksonville City Nights" nearly as much as I liked "Cold Roses".
  • remembered how much I like The Replacements.
  • was pleasantly surprised to see the words "Tom Delay" and "indicted" in the same headline.
  • am trying to figure out how to juggle seeing both "Serenity" and "MirrorMask" this weekend.
  • intend to have another slack evening, except tonight instead of wine and movie it will be homework.
  • just remembered that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is tonight at the 9:30. Crap. On the other hand, Icould technically still go, since tickets are cheap and still available.
  • splurged on an order of Tanzania and Sulawesi-Kalosi beans from Peet's.
  • am rather pleased with my web host's (http://www.kiahost.com/) customer service.
  • don't really have all that much to say, thus the typing in bullet points rather than actual paragraphs.

I'd decided that I really did want to see BRMC after all and figured I'd just pop online and order a ticket for will call. Which is a great theory, in theory. The show's already started, so no online ticketing for me. DENIED! Now, it doesn't say it's sold out on the site, so I suppose I could go to the box office; problem there is that the club is quite a trek from here, especially if I want to take the Metro and not deal with the scary parking situation, and I would really rather not spend an hour getting down there only to find that there are no tickets left. Also, I'd realistically need to have left about 20 minutes ago in order to get there before they go on stage at 10 and I'd end up spending more time in transit than at the show. Meh, I think this is my sign that I really otter stay home and do homework and clean the bathroom like a good girl.

I got a Son Volt ticket while I was on the site though, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
