A pleasant surprise from the weekend: the Gap Outlet in Leesburg had the skirt I wanted, in black, for about half what the one on the site is listed at. And I fit into a size smaller than I thought I needed. Now I suppose I need to go dig out my next-size-down jeans, if I can remember where I put them.

On a less personally happy-making note, I'll be really glad when all the Mother's Day (and soon enough, Father's Day) advertising is done. It's been long enough that the reminder is not exceptionally painful, but I seem to be much more aware of its approach this year than last.

The "Chicken Little" trailer parody of the "Hitchhiker's Guide" trailer actually made me laugh. The movie itself? A few minor complaints, but I liked it overall. (I must confess I kept waiting for Bill Nighy to break out into some sort of behavior resembling his character in "Love Actually".) No, it wasn't the book. Nor was it the TV series. And probably it wasn't the radio show either, although not having heard it, I can't say for sure. No, I didn't expect it to be any of those things.
