Today is Pungenday, day 67 in the season of Confusion, 3270.
Rather than flop on the sofa and whine about how much being a girl sucks (which held a lot of appeal, let me tell you), I decided I might actually try to get stuff done this weekend. I skipped Otakon, since I didn't feel like paying $40 essentially for the privilege of shopping -- the panel on Japanese fashion was at something like 9 AM, and like hell I was going to be in Baltimore at 9 AM on Saturday. Instead, I did a little bit of gardening; my portulaca and vinca are doing really well, the hosta are doing reasonably okay. The wave petunias have been moved out to the back deck to get full sun for a while, they're a bit droopy. If anyone local would like some golden pothos cuttings, I had to trim one of mine back before it ate the bookcase. I'm pleased that the portulaca and vinca are doing so well; those are the first things I ever grew on my own. My mother gave me a little corner of the flowerbed out front when I was a wee tike and let me pick what I wanted to plant, and those are the two that I chose.
We went to see"Dude, Where's My Slider?" "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" on Friday evening. I thought it was funny, although not funny enough to go see it again in the theater. (Maybe I was lacking the appropriate chemical enhancement.) Definitely will need to rent and watch with friends though. If you're a Neil Patrick Harris fan, he makes a wonderful cameo appearance. ("Did Doogie Howser just steal my car?") Unfortunately it also left me with a HUGE craving for Krystal burgers, which for all intents and purposes here are made from unobtanium.
I've introduced
brian1789 to the joy that is The Magnetic Fields, and to Billy Bragg and Wilco's "Mermaid Avenue" collaborations, so I count that as a success.
Today was some housecleaning, catching up on my homework (I'm finally caught up in the Dreamweaver assignments and am only a week and a half behind in the Javascript assignments...considering I was five weeks behind in both at the beginning of last week, I'm pretty pleased with myself.), and going to buy some weights and some walking shoes to replace my worn-out crosstrainers and encourage myself to get up off my butt and get outside.
