(no subject)
Oct. 1st, 2003 01:33 amIn lieu of any news updates this time, I point you all at
nikkinewsnet. Go. Read. Join.
I keep telling myself that in 18 hours or so, my stress levels will have dropped dramatically and it will all be okay. Of course then I get to sit back and wait for the "what the @#$% did you do to the site, it sucks!!" email to roll in, but that's another story.
I did make it out to see Terry Pratchett tonight, who tells a fabulously funny story about why one should not take drugs, involving the realization that all the words in the world are right there on your keyboard and how later you turn into a hippie and do things like name your kids Arwen or Galadriel. Yeah, probably you had to be there. The first question from the audience was from a couple of girls who apparently write Discworld fanfic asking his opinion on it (the general subject, not theirs in particular). Heh. I think it boiled down to "I don't mind it so long as I don't see it and risk getting accused of stealing someone else's ideas". The last question was "Do you write for fun, or for money?" Uh. Yes? It was a lot of fun, even if Neil couldn't make it (they'd originally wanted both Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman to speak) and there wasn't very much particularly about "Good Omens" despite it being the nominal book club selection for the month. I was unsure whether or not I'd be able to go until just about 4:15, but I was encouraged to go and take a mental health break if nothing else.
Somehow, despite theoretically being in the same room with them and two hundred of our closest friends, I did not manage to find
indyansel,
computerchix and
aliciar. I got there a little towards the late side, sat near the door, and had to dash off pretty much immediately afterwards and skip the book signing Line o'Doom in order to get home and get back to work. I also had to miss dinner last night with the abovementioned folks and some other WomBATS because of this deadline. Grr. Arrgh.
One more day. One more day, and hopefully I can get back to being mostly sane and possibly having something more interesting than "I. Am. So. Stressed. Out." to say. ;)
