Apr. 21st, 2003 10:43 pmToday is Sweetmorn, day 38 in the season of Discord, 3269.
So instead of doing a ton of 00100000nd birthday stuff today, we sort of spread it out over the weekend. Saturday C.,
madbodger and I went to Clay Cafe where we spent a couple of hours painting ceramic pieces. My intended design for my bowl got a bit hosed because my dragonfly stencil didn't work very well (too much paint, so it all ran together into a big blob), so I ended up having to improvise. We'll see how it turned out on Saturday when I go pick it up. Afterwards we went to dinner at Malibu Grill, and then C. and I went to go see "A Mighty Wind". If you liked "Waiting for Guffman" or "Best in Show", you'll probably like this one too; it pokes lots of fun at the old folk scene (of the Kingston Trio/Richard and Linda Thompson variety). I thought it was hysterical; there's something just Wrong[tm] about Parker Posey in pigtails and playing a ukelele.
Yesterday we slept really late, then went in to Dupont Circle for dinner at City Lights of China followed by the "Cowboy Bebop" movie. Eh. It wasn't great, wasn't awful. Worth the $8 and the trek downtown.
Today my coworkers festooned my office in streamers and balloons (office birthday tradition), I got birthday greetings from several people and tonight I'm not doing anything other than watching "Stargate: SG-1" on TV, treating myself to tickets for Jethro Tull at Wolf Trap (if I'm inspired I'll get Mary Chapin Carpenter tickets for the night before as well) and perhaps some laundry.
