Mar. 21st, 2002 03:36 amHome from San Diego, on a different airline and via Denver rather than Pittsburgh thanks to Weather[tm] in Pittsburgh apparently that would've left me to miss my connecting flight and be forced to stay there overnight. *cringe* It worked out well, since I got the last window seat on the plane and there was nobody in the middle of my row. The flight is so much less boring when you have a window and some daylight to see the Grand Canyon and the mountains around Denver. Damnit, seeing all that pristine snow on the mountaintops just reminded me of how cheated we've been wrt snow this year (i.e. we've had pretty much none)! Denver's a good point at which to break that flight up, I think. Of course flying into and out of Denver is a nervewracking experience for those of us who get nervous on planes. Getting my brains rattled around rather severely three or four times at 25k feet was just was I wanted to experience today. Watched The Man Who Wasn't There on the way back...was rather a waste of a couple of hours IMO, even though I like Billy Bob. Should've pulled out the laptop and watched Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust instead. Did manage a nap on the way out of Denver though, which is odd seeing as how I have a hard time sleeping on planes. Interesting dreams.
I'm definitely going to go back to San Diego as a tourist some time when I don't have solid days of 9-5 meetings scheduled wedged between cross-country flights. At least we did adjourn really early on Tuesday and several of us walked down to Seaport Village for lunch, which would be where I acquired my lovely "healthy glow" (aka bad sunburn). Hey, I didn't bring sunblock since I didn't think I'd even get to leave the hotel much at all, I didn't really in Austin! And now I'm back, well-adjusted to Pacific Time now that I'm back in Eastern. Gah. At least I'm taking a comp day tomorrow so I don't need to get up in 4 hours.
