Dec. 15th, 2001 02:51 pmToday is Prickle-Prickle, day 57 in the season of The Aftermath, 3167.
Today's big goal is to actually get something tangible accomplished. Mostly cleaning up and sorting out/getting rid of some of the boxes we still haven't unpacked and I've got a plan to clean out some bins and my closet and bag stuff up for Goodwill. I've already gone through washingtonjobs and the other normally useful job sites, sent off a resume to the one thing I found that looked promising that I haven't already applied for, and gone to the bank to deposit a small check to send money to the credit card company, so I just need to keep up momentum and not let myself get sucked into sitting at the computer all afternoon. And tomorrow I should check with the company I'd been interviewing with to see if they had any idea when a final decision was going to be made about the job; it's been about two weeks with no word (there were some more candidates to interview, but I was told that they wanted to get it finished up in the next couple of weeks).
I had a small meltdown last night when I discovered that I am much, much more broke than I thought I was, as I just wrote checks for about $1k in rent and bills and it didn't occur to me at the time that the amount was that large. With any luck, the person I did the recent work for will invoice her client soon and I'll get a nice infusion of cash; I also could probably put in another hour or so of work on it to make it more luser-proof, as I guess they've run into a problem already with someone having a problem that I can't duplicate without doing something that there's no reason I should be doing in the first place.
Anyway.
Went to a party last night, missed seeing some folks I thought were going to be there but met a couple new interesting people. Neither of us was much in the mood to go out, but figured we should go and at least make an appearance. Turned out to be more enjoyable than we expected, based on our moods, although we did still leave relatively early as the big cutie-pie of a dog set off my furry animal allergies after about an hour and a half.
Okay, time for me to get off my butt and go wrap C.'s present that just showed up before he wakes up, and then get in gear for housework. Woo. Go me!
