Jul. 22nd, 2001 11:27 pmThe weekend started out with me scared out of my wits. I had just gotten out of the shower at 5:30 or so to get ready for Roxy Music, when I heard someone coming upstairs. Turns out that the place Chris was working decided that Friday was the day they were doing the annual summer contractor purge, so he was home four hours sooner than I expected him to be. I think that given his particular skill set though, after the week or so vacation he plans to take he should be back working again pretty quickly. I keep thinking that I should learn C++, but truthfully I've seen even fewer job postings for entry-level programmers than I have for mid-level web geeks.
The rest of the weekend was spent doing exciting stuff like housecleaning and changing the coolant in my car. I'm not sure how either of us could stand that level of excitement on a continued basis. ;) We also discovered that our local Suncoast has the biggest stock of anime of any Suncoast in the state, according to the guy we were yapping with today while preordering the next Dragonball Z tapes and debating preordering Akira. This is both a good thing and a bad thing, in both cases because it means there's a lot of stuff we'd like to see in stock there.
We got a good laugh out of some DBZ tapes we found elsewhere, part of the Majin Buu (the "Bibidi, Babidi, Buu" thing is groan-worthy) story arc. They seem to be boots of boots, complete with bits of commercials where someone didn't quite turn off the vcr in time. The *really* funny part of that is that over the credits, there's the message from the folks who did the sub apparently saying "don't even think of copying our stuff". Um, sure.
