So today was spa day and Depeche Mode. Woohoo.

E. and I got to the salon, where the very nice man behind the counter proceeded to hem and haw and ask if we were sure that our appointments were July 5. Why yes, since it took at least half an hour on the phone with future bookings to work everything in. They went to find what happened to our appointments, and I guess they never quite did. Anyway, they sent us up to the Reston branch, which did have openings for everything except the manicures and pedicures. So we went in and got our massages, haircuts, facials and makeup applications. I think the woman who did my facial was some sort of closet sadist, since there was a lot of slapping of cheeks and some seriously painful pore treatment. Owie. We go back tomorrow for the manicures and pedicures, and a couple other things E. and I want to get done. We felt like such girly-girls, it was great.

The evening was spent hiking up to Merriweather to see Depeche Mode. Unfortunately we missed Poe, and I know C. had mainly wanted to see her (he's a big fan). We got there pretty much right as she was finishing up with "Angry Johnny". Depeche Mode was a good show, although I couldn't get over the whole bastard love-child of Bono and George Michael ("look at my butt!") thing Dave had going on. ;) They did I think the identical set that Di mentioned in her post about the Boston show, and Martin at least was wearing the same outfit. I've pretty much decided that I'm underwhelmed by most of the new stuff, but I'll probably pick up the CD and see if it will grow on me. We cut out after "Clean" in order to avoid sitting in the parking lot for an hour and a half trying to leave. Of course we get to the car and find that there's one person in this parking area who's parked people in. Those people being us. Fortunately there was enough room (barely) to get between him and the car next to us, and home we went. At least it didn't rain on us while we were there.

Next up, Roxy Music on the 20th, woohoo!

I now have flaming scarlet fingernails and toenails, nicely shaped eyebrows, and a shiny new copy of American Gods, Neil Gaiman's new book. I sense a good weekend coming. (Pleasepleaseplease let that not bring on the current "I'm in a good mood" curse.)

I think all my technical knowledge is slowly leaking out of my brain. It took me way too long to figure out why a user's permissions on FTP'd files were so restrictive, or rather where it was I had to do the fiddling around to make things right. Seeing as how I was the one who edited that file in the first place, you'd think that's the kind of thing I'd remember. Between that and the silly mistakes I made with the Apache config file, I'm feeling mighty dim. Somewhere between 25 and 40 watts these last couple of days. Ugh. Must...stretch...brain.
