New Year's didn't suck as much as I expected; it was actually rather nice, if low-key. First C. and I went to go see "Miss Congeniality" with S. and L., which turned out to be absolutely hysterical. That night we ended up going to H. & D.'s house to hang out and watch movies and help them break in their new DVD player. There were about 9 of us there, it was low-key and fun, although D. managed to get impressively drunk. I discovered that my leather pants finally fit me again, so I wore those and a fuzzy black sweater and fell into the glitter pot headfirst. =) Got lots of compliments, so maybe I should try that trick again sometime.

2000 was kind of mediocre. Not really bad, not really great either. And this year I turn 30, so I can at some point stress about that. Not that it matters, I still feel 18 lots of the time...except for the wrinkles around my eyes. =/ I don't think I'll really stress about turning 30, although you should ask me again in late March or early April how I feel. I think what bothers me the most about the prospect is that neither of my parents saw 60 (my dad died a couple of months before his 50th birthday and my mother died at 54) and my maternal grandparents died before 65 too, so I sometimes think that my life is probably half-over already and I don't have much to show for it. What am I likely to accomplish in the next 20 years if I don't even know what direction I want my life to take? I can get really mopey if I follow this train of thought for too long, so perhaps I should leave it for now.

Well, at least 30 is an excuse for a big-ass party. Especially since April 21 is a Saturday this year. ;)
