why small companies are good
Aug. 3rd, 2000 04:48 pmOur fairly regular "staff meetings" consist of my boss E. and I meeting up at our favorite sushi restaurant and having lunch. Just returned from one such meeting, and now I want little more than to curl up and take a nap. How would I deal with having to go back to a "normal" job, one that involves getting up in the morning, going to work for 8+ hours, fighting traffic to and from the office? Ugh. While I think office space might help with the motivation problem a little, I don't think that being forced into going to the office would help much.
Speaking of "normal jobs", just got a call from a recruiter. Sounded like it might've been her third day on the job or so. Seems someone referred me to them as a programmer. *chuckle* Er, yeah. If by programmer you mean "can spell C++", then yeah, I'm a programmer. ;) I decided to humor her and tell her what it was I actually did, at which point I got told about a Unix system administration position in Bethesda that they had open (after I confirmed for her that yes, Solaris is in fact a Unix variant). *giggle* I'm slightly more likely to be a sys admin than a programmer (unless this is one of those places that considers writing HTML to be programming), but not the type who's likely to be sent out for anything other than junior positions by a recruiter. I was quite curious to hear who referred me to them, but of course that information wasn't listed in their newly-updated database that they were working out of.
Motivation levels falling...
Must go watch Tenchi Muyo on Toonami and nap...
