This is why I can't begin to contemplate taking a two-week vacation. I'm out for one day and I come back to a pile of email messages, most of them requiring my actual attention, and a big stack of stuff that absolutely must get done in the next three days. GUH! If I was out of the office for two solid weeks, I'd last about a day after my return before running shrieking out of the office in need of another vacation. How on earth do people manage to take extended time off and not go insane when they get back? Oh right, I think the answer for most Americans at least is "they don't take long vacations".

Okay, time to fire up some appropriate music (current choice: DholCutz Radio) and knock a bunch of this stuff out.

This is the *exact* reason you should stop by the Creativity group tonight . ..our 6th year anniversary! It would be the *perfect* thing after a day of catching up . . .really really . . ...

Oddly enough, I find that I have less work and fewer emergencies waiting for me when I return from a planned vacation or medical leave than when I miss work unexpectedly for a few days because of acute illness. Something about setting the out-of-office email saying no, really, I'm gone and won't be checking email and won't be back until such-and-such a date really works. At least, it does for me. :-}
