I stopped at Michael's tonight after work to add to my yarn stash for possible holiday presents, if I get off my butt and work on them. I also found a bit of ephemera that's going in an envelope I've been meaning to mail to someone since I got back from New Mexico in August. D'oh. Now I have the yarn to make a throw using a pattern I found while leafing through some books at the library, and I'm looking forward to getting back into that again.

Crochet: marginally cheaper than therapy. ;)

I fell asleep on the sofa earlier while watching "Definite Article", which apparently followed

nminusone home this evening, and it's now time to change our outgoing message to tell the 10 people who call every day in response to a sign on Route 50 about dog boarding that they've misdialled (the company's number is the same as ours but with the first two digits reversed, and people have been calling as early as 6 AM) and then drag my groggy self to bed and try to get back to sleep.

I'm really sorry to have to do this to you, but you have to stop shopping at Michael's. The guys who own it are the big Bush donors who funded the smear campaign against McCain in South Carolina in 2000.

In happier news, JoAnn now has a fair selection of yarn, and of course AC Moore rocks with a great and abiding rockingness.

Hey, no need to apologize for passing that on, I didn't know that. The JoAnn closest to here is actually painful to navigate (small, overcrowded, and with a limited yarn selection), but I recently discovered an AC Moore about 10 miles from here, conveniently located on my way home from work. AC Moore or the local (slightly overpriced) yarn store it is then. Or Yarn Market, if I don't need to fondle the skein before buying it.

I think fondling the yarn is the whole reason for buying it in the first place, but then I'm weird.

Really? Damn. That means I need to find another cheap place for art supplies. ("Michael's: for those of is who aren't good enough to justify going to *real* art stores and spending tons of money") Not to mention stuff for Halloween and Christmas -- one down, one to go.

Or whether you buy the $55 skeins. ;) (I don't, I'm not skilled enough yet to make it worthwhile to use really, really nice yarn.)
