Today is Pungenday, day 42 in the season of Confusion, 3269.
Summing up my weekend in one word: traffic. Actually Friday I think the state cops in MD outnumbered the non-police traffic, it was surprisingly quiet. Last night though was another story. Gotta love being in a state so small that traffic can back up throughout the entire state (from a couple miles after the bridge to the toll plaza); it took more than an hour and a half to get through Delaware. Backups on 91 for half an hour because there was a minor fender bender on the shoulder and everyone had to look, fsckwad in CT who rode five inches off our bumper at 70 mph for six miles in the far right lane while making lots of hand gestures and having a conversation with our rear window about how we should speed up, while ignoring the fact that there were three clear lanes to the left where he could have passed (and then after C. brake-checked him for being a freakin' jerk, he blew past us on the right shoulder and cut us off, still ignoring the three totally clear lanes to the left), lots of backups in NJ (10 miles worth at the end of the turnpike, and half an hour at the toll plazas where we bailed out on 293 to avoid that backup near the bridge), an hour and a half in Delaware, then a brief thunderstorm in upper MD that had traffic at a crawl. Twelve hours to get home. It didn't actually set a new record, but it did tie the old one for longest trip that really ought to take 8 or 9 hours max.
Other than that, we had a nice minibreak. I'm sorry I didn't tell anyone I was going to be in Boston this weekend, but the point of getting away was to spend some concentrated time with just the two of us and no computers/email/social engagement requirements. We really needed that, and I missed my email not at all. Next time I'm up, I'll let people know. Basically Boston was a fallback plan since we couldn't get to any of the beaches; it worked out well, since I snagged a room at the Four Points Sheraton near the Burlington Mall for $47 a night. (Hotwire.com is my new best friend, I think.) We spent Saturday wandering around Harvard Square mostly and a tiny bit of Newbury Street, and snagged a lot of swag (i.e. hit up all the used CD shops, Million Year Picnic, Pandemonium and Hootenanny, and I even managed to not spend a lot of money that I don't have at the moment, go me!). Had fantabulous Malaysian food at Panang near Harvard Square for lunch. Saw T3, didn't hate it as I expected to. Didn't keep up with my points really, but I had some banked already and walking around for six hours on Saturday I'm sure threw in a bunch of activity points. Good weekend all around, and good much-needed bonding time with the sweetie.
Now it's time to catch up with everything that I paid no attention to over the weekend.

I can so relate to both of the items quoted above. :-) Glad you had a good time despite the driving. Fi and I had a terrific trip in which I suffered no Internet Withdrawal, either.

On Sunday night in Chattanooga, Fi and I actually went back to our hotel room and looked in the Yellow Pages for theatre info. In hindsight, I'm amazed neither of us even made a comment about wishing we could look up show times on the 'net. Although we ended up pulling out the laptop after dinner anyway, for the only reason I brought it along (to play DVDs). We ended up watching a couple episodes of Red Dwarf.
