I'm bewildered/For we're strangers when we meet

Today was the second time in a week (two different people, so far as I know) that I was contacted by someone who I keep thinking I ought to know, and just cannot for the life of me remember who/what/when/why I know or think I know them. This last one was a nice long letter addressed to a bunch of folks about Manassas data centers and the Patriots winning and a bunch of other stuff, and I just cannot figure out why I got it. I recognized one other name on the cc: list as being a localish fellow Ectophile, but I don't recall ever getting email from this person before. Curiouser and curiouser. With my luck, said person is reading my journal and will pop up and point out that I'm a total doofus for not remembering that I know him from ____. ;) At least if that happens, I'll stop wracking my brains trying to figure out where it came from, and if I'm even luckier it will allow me to stop trying to figure out why my random poster friend looks so damn familiar. ;)

Speaking of random posters...

...I seem to have turned up your friends list, which confused me (easily done). Do I know you from somewhere, or do we just have similar interests? And hi, whichever!

Aha!

Although looking at your profile, there's more than enough overlap (bi/poly/geek/goth) to make me wonder if we've briefly crossed paths on Usenet somewhen. It's a small world... :)

And it only seems to have six Oysterband fans in it, too!? Inconceivable!
