Trying to get a rough idea of flights to/from New Orleans in November. Is it just me, or is it completely impossible to get a flight from New Orleans to DC (IAD, DCA, or even BWI) on a Thursday night after around 6:30 PM? Unless I skip out entirely on the last conference session of the day, it seems that I'm not going to be able to get out of there on Thursday night. (While yes, an extra day might normally be a good thing, in this case it's not particularly.)

I had the same problem back in January, getting out of NO to IND (even changing planes in any number of possible hubs) on a Thursday evening late enough not to have to skip the end of the conference I was attending. I think Louis Armstrong Int'l Airport must shut down early on Thursdays or something.

I thought "maybe there's a later flight to Memphis that I can take and then crash with my sister for the night", but nope. It sure looks right now like the only way to leave NO on Thursday is to leave in the afternoon. Can't take the train either since the next one isn't until 7:00 the next morning, and is vastly more expensive too. (This could of course all be irrelevant, since I don't even have approval to go to the conference yet; flight investigation was for pricing purposes.)

Where was your conference at? This one's at the Sheraton New Orleans.

Mine was the American Meteorological Society (AMS) annual meeting, which is in a different city each year. In January 2008 it was at the New Orleans Convention Center, close to downtown. I stayed a couple minute's walk away at a Hampton Inn.
