Today is Boomtime, day 29 in the season of Discord, 3269.
I got out on my rollerblades today for the first time. Utter humiliation, but no broken bones. We went over and skated around the parking garage at Northrop Grumman next door, since it was relatively flat and had a wall I could hang on to for dear life. Remind me again why I thought rollerblades were a good idea? I can almost get moving forward on my own, but stopping is still beyond me. We were out late enough that there wasn't time to get downtown before the movie started, so maybe I'll persuade C. to take me out for a steak instead...except he's now snoring on the living room floor.
Oh yeah, I nearly got taken out by a Canada goose that was being chased off by another one...it came flying by me close enough to blow my hair around a bit. As precariously balanced on the skates as I was, it wouldn't have taken much for said goose to knock me flat on my ass.

I fear that would be my issue as well. You are braver than I! ;-)
This is certainly not the time of year to mess with Canada geese. One entire entrance to the building in which I work is unusable because there is a nest in the mulch on each side of the door.

I wasn't actually messing with the geese, they showed up long after we got there. =) Trust me, I know not to mess with a nesting mama goose (after laughing at a coworker who'd been chased by a cranky gooose). There was a planter at the mall near here last year that was blocked off with police tape because a goose had decided to nest in that planter right next to the door.

I wouldn't have thought you were. Your anecdote just reminded me of all the "encounters" we've had around my office building. Once, I was driving into the parking lot and one was chasing another through the air as my car approached. If my driver's side window had been down, I'd have sworn the pursuing goose would have almost flown into my car.

That's reassuring. =)
The problem with this particular pair was that the first one had landed on what I thought was the hood of my car (it was actually the bushes right in front of my car, but I couldn't see that). That made me disinclined to go skate back over, but when the second one flew up and started acting all huffy, I started wondering if I was ever going to be able to leave. Heh. =) I have to admit though that watching the victor waddle off down the road, honking and bobbing his head and shaking his tail feathers was pretty damn cute. Not to mention it made it safe for me to go back to my car. ;)

I think I'm missing some context? =)
