Today is Boomtime, day 66 in the season of Confusion, 3268.

I gave up on the search engine I wanted to try because it's been many days now and I still can't get the cursed thing to build. I'm trying another one now, which was much simpler to set up, has a nice admin interface and has phrase searching too. It's sorting through the development site right now; it's not speedy, unfortunately. On the other hand, this is a BIG site, so it will take at least the rest of the afternoon I'd imagine. Unless it runs into a file size limit like it just did. D'oh.

I had a couple nice rapid-fire email exchanges last night with people I should talk to more often and who don't seem to do the IM thing. I really miss getting to see W. on his formerly-frequent trips into DC; he's funny and insanely smart and charming and good-looking and a most excellent companion for hanging out in the bar at the Ritz Carlton and having drinks. *wave* Even though we haven't dated in years (*twitch* I was reminded of just how many years in this conversation), I still have a great affection for him.

I'm hoping that I didn't just get assigned an action item which will involve giving a presentation. Augh! Public speaking bad. Definitely bad. I'm probably wrong about that though and it will just be for the editorial committee.

I've never hung out in a Ritz Carlton bar. Do you need
to get dressed up? Is this the one in Pentagon City?

Normally I go to the one in Tyson's (Tyson's II), as the people I've been meeting there have been staying at the hotel. You don't need to get really dressed up, although I wouldn't wander in in shorts and a tshirt. Business casual and better is what I shoot for, as it's mostly people who are staying at the hotel or are coming from one of the billions of surrounding offices.
