John Scalzi posts that the Hugo voter's packet is ready. Holy crap, look at what all is included! All this can be yours for the low, low price of an Anticipation membership, either attending or supporting.

OMG, does it ever suuu-u-u-u-u-uck to be on a bus stuck in rush hour traffic more than an hour before you normally wake up. Still, better than being stuck in my car in the non-HOV lanes more than an hour before I normally wake up; I'd have needed to leave home at about the same time driving or taking the bus, and the bus lets me doze safely. Things I remembered when I left the house: umbrella; coffee; Kashi bar. Things I forgot: bus schedule with the afternoon timetables; directions to the training office. Luckily I'd been there before, so lack of directions was not critical. Six-person class + noisy keyboard = limited goofing off.

I already knew I can't read on the bus because of motion sickness, but I discovered to my chagrin today that I apparently can't read on the above-ground section of the Metro anymore for the same reason. That's the only thing that makes an hour packed tightly into tin cans tolerable! I guess I'll rip the first disc of Spook Country and stick it on my mp3 player for tomorrow and hold off on the rest of Palimpsest until I get home. I'm hoping it was just lack of sleep (just under 6 hours) and too much caffeine, but I'm afraid to risk it again just yet.

Right, then. Dinner, a couple episodes of TV on Hulu, then bed. Tomorrow: class, followed by happy hour at Laughing Man Tavern near Metro Center. Email if you wanna join us (us = me and [livejournal.com profile] chadu at this point).
