Okay, just one comment, I can't help it. I've never seen any company that needed an editor/proofreader more than this one.

The 5.15 and hour scares me: Are such skills bid down that low in your area or are they totally unrealistic?

They're totally unrealistic. My understanding is that editing and proofreading isn't a field you get into to get rich, but I don't think the market here is quite bad enough that an experienced editor is likely to be jumping at the chance to work for minimum wage.

It's state-dependent, but the federal minimum wage is $5.15. MD and VA use the federal minimum, DC is $6.15.
