Today is Sweetmorn, the 20th day of Confusion in the YOLD 3171

Is there anything more fun than pranking vanity publishers? Apparently not. Via [livejournal.com profile] bookslut:

Vanity publishing houses in France have been accused of gross incompetence after apparently failing to recognise the manuscript of one of the greatest French novels — Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert.

Believing it to be a new work, they offered to print it at a cost to the author of up to €4,800 (£3,200). The newspaper Le Figaro sent a copy of the 19th-century masterpiece to five of France’s biggest vanity publishing companies. It changed the title and names of the main characters. None identified the novel.

I could be wrong about this, but I suspect this is possibly the only time you'll ever hear mention of any similarities between Atlanta Nights and Madame Bovary.

Nifty!

LJ's implemented tags, to make organizing posts somewhat easier. I don't have my journal set to be searchable, so this could be very useful. To test it out, I went back and tagged all the "Song o'the Week" entries in my memories; check this out. (Er, those are all locked, so if you're not on my reading list you probably will get an empty page.)
