Chris and I went out to the Manassas Battlefield Park today to go walk around and take in the sunshine. We didn't intend to, but we ended up taking the 5 mile circuit around the battlefield. It was a gorgeous day, clear skies and in the 70s. There was a little tiny bit of stress after taking a shortcut to shave some distance off the trail (not like we could get lost, just more worried about having to be out of the park before dark and not being entirely sure where we'd meet back up with the trail), but otherwise a nice hike. We ran into a herd of about 12 deer grazing during our shortcut, and saw another, smaller group back towards the main entrance - two adults and two babies. One of the little ones would periodically flick its tail and start to bound back towards the trees when it noticed us looking at it, until its mother calmed it down. I think they were exactly what I needed to see today.
